Procedure of Fillings
Numbing the Area – Before the procedure begins, your dentist will numb the area around the affected tooth with a local anesthetic to ensure you are comfortable.
Removing the Decay – The decayed or damaged portion of the tooth will be removed using a dental drill or laser.
Cleaning the Area – The area will be thoroughly cleaned to ensure no bacteria or debris remains.
Placing the Filling – The filling material will be placed into the space left by the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth. The material used for fillings can vary, but commonly used materials include composite resin, amalgam, gold, and porcelain.
Polishing and Shaping – After placing the filling material, your dentist will polish and shape it to ensure it fits your bite and looks natural.
